Southwest Vintage Stripes Square - Fun with Rulers

The inspiration for this quilting pattern came from looking at designs used in American Indian pottery.  I looked at images and pieces, let them make themselves comfortable in my brain matter, and then went to work.  The seed for the idea was planted, but I did not plan out in great detail how I was going move thoughout the whole quilt top.  The result is what you see in this quilt.

This is the first quilt in which I went crazy with the rulers.  I've stayed away from rulers because I always quilt with an open toed foot on my long arm machine...just love to see where I'm going.  Anyway, Teryl Loy Enterprizes has come out with a 3/8th inch thick long arm rulers that works just fine with an open toed foot.  In fact, I think a this ruler would work better for all long armers by preventing the ever dreaded needle hitting the ruler.  It is a drag to hit a ruler, break the needle and maybe even mess with your long arm machine's timing.  Can't lug a long arm machine in for repair very easily.
